Miniature Eiffle Towers
Sunday morning we went to Notre Dame. It was amazing. We stayed for the Gegorian Chant a service with tons of singing. The priest uses lots of incense. I really don't see how they din't cough in the middle of it all! The building is gorgeous. The stained glass was my favourite part. I can just imagine Quasi Moto walking down this great cathedal.
After that we took a hop on/ hop off bus to the Champs-elyees. It's a humongous arch built in the 1820's to pay tribute to historic French figures. It's surrounded by a circle of traffic so you have to go underground to see it up close.
Next we went to the Eiffle Tower. There were a bunch of guys underneath and down the street by it selling miniature versions and other small products. It was quite funny to see them scatter when the police came because most of them didn't have the licence to sell that stuff. We took an elivator to the top of it. The view was breathtaking. One of the only bad things was that it was rely windy up there. A really amazing thing is that the Eiffle Tower gets painted every couple of years. The thing is they have to hand paint it! They better not be afraid of heights!
Then we went on another bus around the sites. We saw a bunch of things such as The Thinker, Grand and Petite Palaces and an Egyptian Obelik from 1500 BC. t is one of the oldest thing in Pars.
We got off the bus to have supper at a resturaunt. It was a really good meal. Then we went back to our apartment.
Shopping in Paris
I don't know what you did with your Saturday but I was shopping in Paris. The shops were miniature but we did find a couple fair sized ones. We got a headset for our computer to call people back home and it worked a little better than trying to call without it. Anyway we mostly walked around had some lunch then walked around some more. Paris is a relly pretty city to visit. We als hd some ice cream and tat was pretty yummy. Then we squished onto the subway and had supper at our aprtment.

Louvre Museum
We went to the Louvre on Friday. The Louvre is the biggest art museum in Europe. It's home to The Mona Lisa, The Venus Demilo and many other famous art peices. I absolutelly LOVED it!! I was a picture maniac. Venus Demilo is a lifesized sculpture of Venus the goddess of love. Her arms were lost a long time a go and no one really know where they went she was made by 100-130 BC. Next to Venus there are many amazing other sculpters. Near the Mona Lisa there were many amazing painings. We also saw the Egyptian section. There were a lot of vases and hyroglifics. The Louvre is HUGE we got there around 1:30pm and we left at 7:30pm. We stayed there nearly 6 hours! We alked around 3/4 butonly looked closely at around 1/2. After that we sqeezed onto the subway and went to our apartment and made supper.

Paris
Thursday we took a train to Paris, France. The train ride took 3 1/2 hours. Then we went to our really small apartment that we rented for our time in Paris. On the way there we took a cab and the traffic is crazy!! On some of the parts there is just a circle of bricks with no lines at all! That was all we did.

Canal Cruise
This morning we went on a canal cruise. That was really cool. After that we went to a couple of markets. One that we went was a flower market. People here are obssesed with tulips! Then we had some lunch then searched for the Red Light District. On the way there we found a group of Chineses stuff. In the Red Light District there are so many prostitutes. I was disgusted al the way down that street. Ther were girls all shapes, sizes, and skin coulor. Here they are allowed to do this type of stuff. To me that stuff is all EWWW!! Anyway after that we went to the Anne Frank House. It's this house that Anne Frank, a Jew from Germny, hid in. It's acctually sad because she died because the Germans came to the Netherlands where they were hiding in this house. She kept a diary which was published. (I'll write a book report after I read it) Then we went to supper at a Italian resturaunt. I had the cheeseyest lasagna ever! It was really yummy. Then we figured out the tram again and got back to our mini appartment where I am doing this now! Tomrrow we are going on train to Paris.
Art of Amsterdam
Monday we went to the Rijks Museum. It took really long time for us to get there because we slept in then we had to figure out the tram system. Anyway we did get there and it was really cool. Saddly almost all of the building in renovation so we only saw the
17th Century stuff which was the Golden Age for the Netherlands. That was longish though almost 2 1/2 hours. I loved the different styles of paint! I saw paintings by Rembrant and I really liked them. There was this one really huge one that had like 14 guys in it. Every face was like it's own portrait, and the clothes seemed like you could touch it! After that we went back and made some supper.

Once we settled our stuff we looked for a grocery store. We found a really good one and got bunch of stuff. Then we went back to our little apartment and channel surfed on the TV.

Mennonites in the Netherlands
Today we went to church with our friends. They're Dad is the preacher for the church so that's why we went to that one. After that we had some lunch then went to another dyke. This one was 33 kilometers long. Then we went to a bunch of Mennonite stuff mostly about the life of Menno Simons who really helped the Mennonites in the Netherlands. We learned a lot of how the Mennonites had to make the churches hidden because the people in charge made them do a bunch of things like that. I know it's really sad but it's true. Tomorrow we are catching a train to Amsterdam. We are staying there for about four days at a B&B. I should probably talk about it when I am there so I'll stop talking about it until later.
City in Netherland
Saturday we went to a city near the town we are staying at. We went through the shops and we went to the water and looked around. I had some fun scaring some ducks. The trainride back was the shortest one we have had yet. We got back in time for supper and it was deliceous.
Friday
Well Friday was pretty much like Thursday only it was all of us who looked throught the town. Mostly we saw the interesting shops and my mom found these cool little teacups. After that we went back to our friends house for supper. They have been giving us some traditional Dutch meals. I personally really like them. That is pretty much what we did.
Friends of My Mom's
WOAH! Hold up. I didn't write for a loooong while so I'm very sorry if I mess this post up. We had some breakfast at Mennorode then caught a train to our friends place. Our friends live in a part of the Netherlands that have they're own language! It sounds a lot like Dutch to me but apperently it's different. Anyway once we got they're my dad and I walked around the town where our friends live. I really like they're town.

Last Day
Today was our last day at Mennorode. I'm very happy because we got the day off. I really wanted to go for a bikeride but the rental place we looked at didn't have my size. So my dad and I went to Nunspeet the city near Mennorode. We walked aound for a while then got some train tickets for tomorrow. We also had a snack of these deep fried dough balls and some drinks. My ball was cold so it didn't taste as good as it sounds. Anyway after that we came back and had our last supper here. Now I'm watching T.V. Tomorrow we are going to a friend of my moms for the weekend.

Walled City
There is a small church here at Mennorode and today we cleaned all the windows. We had some yummy lunch then went back to that little town I told you about before. Apperently it's not a town but a city. The old portion has a wall around. That was mostly the part that we went through. Anywho there we got some shampoo and other things of the like and some chocolate. Then we drove back to Mennorode.

Canada in The Netherlands
Hello people of Earth. Today after some more windows and lunch, we went to a graveyard. I know that sounds really sad but actually it is kind of cool. The graveyard was meant for Canadian soilders who died in the 2nd World War. They are buried here because they died trying to help the Netherlands so the people here built this memorial and graveyard for them. That took up a lot of our time trying to find so that is pretty much we could do before it got to dark. Also another cool thing we saw today was this huge pumpkin patch. That was one of the first real pumpkin patches that I have ever really seen so I was very excited for it. My mom thought it was impresive too and she said it was one of the biggest ones she had ever seen. That was right next to the graveyard.

World War 2
This morning we went to church. EVEYONE was wearing black and all the women were wearing hats. I felt like an outsider because everyone was looking at us strangely because we weren't wearing black. Oh! And all of the women were wearing skirts. Then after that we went to an old hiddeaway house that people used to hide in during the 2nd World War. The looked really awesome. If you look at it one way you could barely see the door. After that we went to a cute little town and got some ice cream. Then we went back to Mennorodes and had some supper. And now I'm on here so that is all for today.
Netherland VS The Ocean
Yesterday we went to one of the dykes at the coastline. It seems that if there weren't dykes then half of the Netherlands would be flooded. In 1953 they had a huge storm when a lot of the Ntherlands WERE flooded. So they built up the dams to hold of the ocan so it would not happen again. The progect took a long time. They only finished about 5 years ago and after that they had to start reparing them because parts had broken again! We went with one of the other Canadians I told you about before. We went right under and it was very cool. After that we went to a small city. We had some supper there at a fast food place. It was surprisingly very good. That's about all we did yesterday.

More Windows
Today we washed more windows. Then after lunch (once we had finished the windows) I watched some T.V. then had supper. And now I'm doing this. Tomorrow we are going to go somewhere in a car we rented. I'm very happy because I get to sleep in tomorrow morrning before we go. One of the other Canadians is coming with us. If you have not read my other posts two other Canadians are staying here at Mennorodes.
